1. Experimental software
Dashhound is experimental software in active development, provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. It may fail to save a clip, save the wrong moment, drain your battery, or stop working after an iOS, Xcode or glasses update. Do not rely on it as your only record of anything that matters to you.
2. Not a safety device
Dashhound does not prevent accidents and does not replace a certified dashcam, your insurance, or your own attention on the road. Impact detection is in beta: it can miss a crash, and it can trigger on a pothole or a dropped phone.
3. Your responsibility
You install Dashhound yourself, from source, on your own device, with your own Apple ID. You are responsible for using it lawfully where you are: filming and recording audio in public spaces, the rights of people who appear or are heard in your clips, and what you do with a clip afterwards. A clip is evidence — for the police, your insurer or the other party. It is not content for social media. In many countries, including France, publishing footage of identifiable people or licence plates without consent is restricted. Check your local rules before sharing anything.
4. Privacy
The app has no account, no cloud, no analytics and no third-party SDK. Before you save anything, the app keeps a short rolling recording (about 45 seconds) in memory only; nothing is written to Photos until you save it. Saved clips stay on your phone, in the Photos app. The app never tries to hide or disable the capture LED — that indicator is controlled by the glasses' own platform, not by this app. The app never performs face, voice or plate recognition. The code is public, so you can verify all of this.
This website deliberately collects one piece of personal data, through its form: the email address you type into the waitlist. Purpose: to tell you when there is something to install. It is stored in a hosted database (Supabase, EU — Paris, France), is not shared or sold, and is kept until you ask for its removal; if the project is discontinued, all stored emails are deleted. No newsletter, no tracking cookies, no analytics. Like almost any website, the hosting infrastructure may keep short-lived technical logs (such as IP addresses) for security and operation; they are not used for anything else. 5. Independence and trademarks
Dashhound is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or supported by the maker of your glasses, by Apple, or by any other company. Product and brand names belong to their owners. Using Dashhound requires your glasses' Developer Mode and remains subject to the platform's own terms.
6. License and source
The source code is released under the MIT License (see the repository). The mascot, the visuals and the text of this site are © Julian Salaun — ask before reusing them.
